NEW DELHI: Regulation minister Kiren Rijiju mentioned on Thursday that the federal government obtained 1,631 complaints in opposition to judges associated to judicial corruption within the final 5 years, since January 2017. All these grievances have been forwarded to the Chief Justice of India (CJI) and the chief justices (CJs) of the respective excessive courts for motion, he added.
“Within the final 5 years, solely in a single case the division of justice (of the legislation ministry), with the approval of the President, conveyed sanction for prosecution below the Prevention of Corruption Act to the CBI in opposition to a retired excessive court docket choose in 2021,” Rijiju mentioned.
“About 1,631 complaints (from January 2017 to December 2021) within the Centralised Public Grievance Redress and Monitoring System (CPGRAMS) on the functioning of the judiciary, together with the judicial corruption, have been obtained over the past 5 years and forwarded to the CJI and the CJs of excessive courts respectively as per the established ‘in-house mechanism’,” the minister mentioned, in a written response to a query raised within the Lok Sabha on Thursday. Rijiju mentioned for the reason that accountability within the increased judiciary is maintained by an “in-house mechanism”, all such complaints are forwarded to the CJI or the CJs involved.
